Johnson Tao (Edmonton, AB) qualified for the 2024 SGI Canada Best of the West playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 5-4 against Rylan Kleiter (Saskatoon, SK). of the 2024 SGI Canada Best of the West in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada;

Tao finished 2-3 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Tao lost 7-5 to Brett Walter (Winnipeg, MB), then responded with a 5-1 win over Daymond Bernath (Saskatoon, SK). Tao went on to lose 6-5 against Jared Kolomaya (Richmond, BC). Tao lost 5-4 to Ryan Wiebe (Winnipeg, MB) where Tao responded with a 6-1 win over Cole Adams (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.

Tao earned 7.500 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the SGI Canada Best of the West, moving up 10 spots the World Ranking Standings into 67th place overall with 46.250 total points. Tao ranks 67th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 46.250 points earned so far this season.
