Calvert finished 5-1 in the 28-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Calvert defeated Kurt Balderston (Sexsmith, AB) 10-5, then won 6-3 against Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB). Calvert went on to lose 3-2 against Rylan Kleiter (Saskatoon, SK). Calvert responded with a 7-6 win over Riku Yanagisawa (Karuizawa, JPN). Calvert won 6-3 against Brent Pierce (New Westminister, BC) to advance to the B-Qualifier where they 5-4 against Jordon McDonald (Winnipeg, MB) to advance to the playoff round. in their final qualifying round match.
