Hirata went on to lose 9-4 against Morozumi. Hirata responded with a 6-1 win over Toshiya Iida (Wakkanai, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their third place finish at the Wakkanai Midori Challenge Cup, Hirata earn 11.250 world rankings points. For week 2 of the event schedule, Hirata did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Hirata ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
