Sayaka Yoshimura (Sapporo, JPN) lost 5-4 to Ikue Kitazawa (Nagano, JPN) in the Final of the Wakkanai Midori Challenge Cup, held August 8 - 11, 2024 in Wakkanai, Japan. To advance to the championship game, Yoshimura won 5-4 over Momoha Tabata (Sapporo, JPN) in the semifinals

Yoshimura finished 4-0 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Yoshimura defeated Miori Nakamura (Aomori, JPN) 6-2, then won 8-2 against Mayu Minami (Sapporo, JPN) and 9-6 against Kohane Tsuruga (Sapporo, JPN). Yoshimura won 7-4 against Japan's Mika Okuyama in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Wakkanai Midori Challenge Cup, Yoshimura take home 13.750 world rankings points. For week 2 of the event schedule, Yoshimura did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Yoshimura ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
