McDonald finished 4-0 in the 25-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McDonald defeated Ryan Murphy (Chicago, IL) 6-0, then won 5-0 against Jed Brundidge (West St Paul, MN) and 6-5 against Jayden King (London, ON). McDonald won 5-3 against Wesley Wendling (Chaska, MN) in their final qualifying round match.
