Chiaki Matsumura/Yasumasa Tanida (Nagano/Hokkaido, JPN) won 8-3 over Megan Smith/Doug Thomson (Newmarket, ON) in the Final of the Northern Credit Union Mixed Doubles Open, held October 25 - 27, 2024 at the Curl Sudbury in Sudbury, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Matsumura/Tanida won 8-7 over Laura Neil/Scott McDonald (St. Thomas, ON) in the semifinals of the 2024 Northern Credit Union Mixed Doubles Open in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada; and won 7-5 over Terri Weeks/Sam Steep (Waterloo, ON) in the quarterfinals.
 
Matsumura/Tanida finished 5-1 in the 18-team qualifying round. . , then went on to lose 0-0 against Smith/Thomson in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Northern Credit Union Mixed Doubles Open Championship title, Matsumura/Tanida earned 11.250 world rankings points along with the $1,500CDN first prize cheque. For week 13 of the event schedule, Matsumura/Tanida did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Matsumura/Tanida ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
