Koei Sato (Tohoku, JPN) finished 1-3 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sato defeated Ryo Wakabayashi (Kyoto, JPN) 10-7, then went on to lose 11-1 against Kohsuke Hirata (Kitami, JPN). Sato lost 9-2 to Rui Matsuura (Nagano, JPN). Sato lost 8-6 to Shinya Abe (Sapporo, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.

Sato earned 1.500 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 28 of the event schedule, Sato did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Sato ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
