Hackner finished 14-3 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Hackner defeated Brian Adams Jr. (Thunder Bay, ON) 6-0, then won 7-4 against Bonot and 9-1 against Chris Silver (Thunder Bay, ON). Hackner went on to lose 6-5 against Zach Warkentin (Thunder Bay, ON). Hackner lost 9-5 to Robyn Despins (Thunder Bay, ON) where Hackner responded with a 10-6 win over Myles Stevens (Thunder Bay, ON). Hackner won 4-3 against Weiss, then won 9-5 against Ron Rosengren (Thunder Bay, ON) and 6-3 against Bryan Burgess (Thunder Bay, ON). Hackner won 5-3 against Andrew Sinclair (Thunder Bay, ON), then won 7-1 against Rob Skinner (Thunder Bay, ON) and 6-2 against Krista McCarville (Thunder Bay, ON). Hackner won 7-6 against Denis Malette (Thunder Bay, ON). Hackner went on to lose 8-2 against Dylan Johnston (Thunder Bay, NO). Hackner responded with a 8-1 win over Claire Dubinsky (Thunder Bay, ON). Hackner won 6-3 against Ben Mikkelsen (Thunder Bay, ON), then won 6-1 against Ashley Palmer (Thunder Bay, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
