Coates finished 2-1 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Coates defeated Curtis Clampitt (Grande Prairie, AB) 6-5, then won 9-4 against Glen Godberson (Fort St. John, BC). Coates went on to lose 7-1 against Maksymetz in their final qualifying round match.
