Austin Hennig (Edmonton, AB) lost 5-3 to Peter Hlushak (Edmonton/Sherwood Park, AB) in the Final of the Alberta Optimist U18 Boys Provincial Championship, held January 2 - 6, 2025 at the Leduc Curling Club in Leduc, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Hennig won 7-1 over Nolan Duncan (Calgary/Sexsmith/Rocky Mountain House, AB) in the semifinals of the 2025 Alberta Optimist U18 Boys Provincial Championship in Leduc, Alberta, Canada;
 
Hennig finished 4-3 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Hennig lost 9-1 to Hlushak, then responded with a 7-4 win over Duncan. Hennig went on to lose 2-1 against Caleb Hofstra (Leduc, AB). Hennig lost 7-4 to Kesler Bachek (Okotoks, AB) where Hennig responded with a 6-3 win over Nathan Schoenhardt (Edmonton, AB). Hennig won 6-3 against Evan Clark (Calgary, AB), then won 7-6 against Ryker Miller (Medicine Hat, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Hennig ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
