Kang responded with a 5-4 win over Junhang Pei (Beijing, CHN). Kang won 12-3 against Camilla Gilberti (Verona, ITA), then won 12-3 against Julia Dyderska (Warsaw, POL) and 5-4 against Bjoernstad. Kang won 6-4 against Andie McDonald (Phoenix , USA), then won 7-5 against Moa Dryburgh (Sundbyberg , SWE) and 4-2 against Miura in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the FISU World University Games, Kang take home 11.000 world rankings points.
