Kitazawa/Usui Reaches 2024 Japanese Mixed Doubles National Championship Semifinals

Ikue Kitazawa/Shingo Usui (Nagano, JPN) run at the 2024 Japanese Mixed Doubles National Championship came to an end in the semifinals with a 8-5 loss to Chiaki Matsumura/Yasumasa Tanida (Nagano, JPN). of the 2024 Japanese Mixed Doubles National Championship in Wakkanai, Japan;

Kitazawa/Usui finished 8-1 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kitazawa/Usui defeated Moka Tanaka/Koei Sato (Morioka, JPN) 10-5, then won 6-4 against Wakaba Kawamura/Shunya Matsuda (Sapporo, JPN) and 12-1 against Ayaka Shimba/Seiji Kato (Kyoto, JPN). Kitazawa/Usui won 8-6 against Michiko Tomabechi/Kenji Tomabechi (Iwate, JPN), then won 7-6 against Kaho Onodera/Takumi Maeda (Sapporo, JPN) and 5-4 against Matsumura/Tanida. Kitazawa/Usui won 9-3 against Miyu Ueno/Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi (Karuizawa, JPN), then won 8-4 against Yumiko Kashiwagi/Koji Nisato (Nagano, JPN). Kitazawa/Usui went on to lose 10-2 against Tori Koana/Go Aoki (Yamanasshi, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.

Kitazawa/Usui earned 15.750 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Japanese Mixed Doubles National Championship. For week 19 of the event schedule, Kitazawa/Usui did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Kitazawa/Usui ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
