Hiebert finished 4-0 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Hiebert defeated Alberta's Mike Lambert 8-7, then won 9-3 against Danny Sherrard (Beaumont, AB) and 8-5 against Evan Van Amsterdam (Edmonton, AB). Hiebert won 7-3 against Alberta's Jeff McConnell in their final qualifying round match.
