Brad Jacobs (Calgary, CAN) won 7-3 over John Shuster (Duluth, USA) in the Final of the U.S. Steel Pan-Continental Championships, held October 19 - 26 in Virginia, Minnesota. To advance to the championship game, Jacobs won 5-4 over Xiao Ming Xu (Beijing, CHN) in the semifinals
 
Jacobs finished 7-0 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Jacobs defeated Xu 10-4, then won 10-3 against Marc Pfister (Manila, PHI) and 14-6 against Soo-Hyuk Kim (Gyeong-Buk, KOR). Jacobs won 7-1 against Sean Becker (Naseby, NZL), then won 8-2 against Australia's Hugh Millikin and 8-3 against Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi (Karuizawa, JPN). Jacobs won 6-5 against Shuster in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the U.S. Steel Pan-Continental Championships Championship title, Jacobs earned 45.750 world rankings points, remaining in 4th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of -0.21899999999999 after improving upon their best so far this season. Jacobs ranks 3rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 161.750 points earned so far this season.
