Takumi Maeda (Kitami, JPN) won 5-1 over Japan's Kohsuke Hirata in the Final of the Wakkanai Midori Challenge Cup, held July 31 - August 3, 2025 in Hokkaido, Japan. To advance to the championship game, Maeda won 4-3 over Shinya Abe (Sapporo, JPN) in the semifinals of the 2025 Wakkanai Midori Challenge Cup in Hokkaido, Japan;
 
Maeda finished 3-1 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Maeda defeated Japan's Koki Ogiwara 7-5, then won 9-3 against Japan's Yuta Fuse and 8-1 against P.N. Raju (Hyderabad, IN). Maeda went on to lose 6-4 against Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi (Karuizawa, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Wakkanai Midori Challenge Cup Championship title, Maeda earned 16.500 world rankings points along with the $9,406CDN first prize cheque, moving up 3 spots the World Ranking Standings into 27th place overall with 127.250 total points. Maeda ranks 2nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 16.500 points earned so far this season.
