Wayne Middaugh (Toronto, ON) finished 2-3 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Middaugh defeated
Jean-Michel Menard (Quebec, PQ) 6-4, then went on to lose 6-5 against Kerry Burtnyk (Winnipeg, MB). Middaugh lost 6-3 to Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) where Middaugh responded with a 5-2 win over Pete Fenson (Bemidji, USA). Middaugh went on to lose 7-1 against Glenn Howard (Coldwater, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Middaugh earned 6.000 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week of the event schedule, Middaugh did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Middaugh ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
