Glenn Howard (Coldwater, ON) lost 5-4 to Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) in the Final of the BDO Canadian Open, held January 26 - 30, 2011 in Oshawa, Ontario. To advance to the championship game, Howard won 7-3 over Kevin Koe (Edmonton, AB) in the semifinals of the 2011 BDO Canadian Open in Oshawa, Ontario; and won 5-2 over Rob Fowler (Brandon, MB) in the quarterfinals.
 
Howard finished 5-0 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Howard defeated Mark Bice (Sarnia, ON) 8-2, then won 6-2 against Randy Ferbey (St. Johns, NL) and 9-2 against Don Walchuk (Edmonton, AB). Howard won 6-4 against Pat Simmons (Davidson, SK), then won 7-2 against Bob Ursel (Vernon, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the BDO Canadian Open, Howard take home 27.000 world rankings points along with the $17,500CDN prize, remaining in 2nd place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 424.240 total points. Howard ranks 3rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 188.640 points earned so far this season.
