Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) won 5-4 over Glenn Howard (Coldwater, ON) in the Final of the BDO Canadian Open, held January 26 - 30, 2011 in Oshawa, Ontario. To advance to the championship game, McEwen won 6-4 over Jeff Stoughton (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2011 BDO Canadian Open in Oshawa, Ontario; and won 7-3 over Dale Matchett (Bradford, ON) in the quarterfinals. of the 2011 BDO Canadian Open in Oshawa, Ontario;
 
McEwen finished 5-0 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McEwen defeated Mark Kean (Ajax, ON) 6-3, then won 9-4 against Matchett and 7-0 against Wayne Middaugh (Toronto, ON). McEwen won 7-3 against Kevin Koe (Edmonton, AB), then won 7-6 against Jake Higgs (Harrison, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the BDO Canadian Open Championship title, McEwen earned 40.000 world rankings points along with the $25,000CDN first prize cheque, remaining in 3rd place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 25 after improving upon their best so far this season. McEwen ranks 1st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 236.320 points earned so far this season.
