Jessie Hunkin (Edmonton, AB) finished 1-3 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Hunkin lost
9-2 to Mirjam Ott (Davos, SUI), then responded with a 6-5 win over Sherry Anderson (Saskatoon, SK). Hunkin went on to lose 7-4 against Desiree Owen (Grande Prairie, AB). Hunkin lost 6-3 to Stina Viktorsson (Umea, SWE) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Hunkin earned 3.000 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, dropping 1 spots on the World Ranking Standings into 23rd place overall with 85.263 total points. Hunkin ranks 14th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 79.560 points earned so far this season.
