Alexander Attinger (Dübendorf, SUI) lost 8-1 to William Lyburn (Winnipeg, MB) in the Final To advance to the championship game, Attinger won 5-4 over Sean Grassie (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2012 DEKALB Superspiel in Morris, Manitoba, Canada; and won 6-4 over Dennis Bohn (Winnipeg, MB) in the quarterfinals.
Attinger finished 3-2 in the 16 team DEKALB Superspiel qualifying round, held November 22 - 25, 2012 at the Morris Curling Club in Morris, Canada. In their opening game, Attinger lost 9-3 to Greg Todoruk (Dauphin, MB), droppimg another game, 4-1 to Steve Petryk (Calgary, AB) where Attinger responded with a 8-7 win over Kyle Foster (Arborg, MB). Attinger won 6-5 against Randy Dutiaume (Winnipeg, MB), then won 4-3 against Todoruk in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the DEKALB Superspiel, Attinger take home 4.375 world rankings points along with the $6,000CDN prize, moving up 26 spots the World Ranking Standings into 117th place overall with 11.048 total points. Attinger ranks 83rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 7.263 points earned so far this season.
