In their opening game, King lost 9-5 to Trevor Perepolkin (Vernon, BC), then responded with a 7-2 win over Randie Shen (Taiwan, TPE). King won 7-3 against Jeff Richard (Kelowna, BC). King went on to lose 5-4 against Rui Liu (Harbin, CHN). King responded with a 7-3 win over Mark Longworth (Kelowna, BC). King went on to lose 7-6 against Richard in their final qualifying round match.
 
King earned 2.145 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, remaining in 34th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 39.070 total points. King ranks 44th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 6.450 points earned so far this season.
