Paulsen finished 4-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Paulsen defeated Kelly Schafer (Swift Current, SK) 8-6, then went on to lose 7-6 against Brett Barber (Biggar, SK). Paulsen responded with a 8-3 win over Chana Martineau (Edmonton, AB). Paulsen won 7-4 against Heather Jensen (Calgary, AB), then won 10-2 against Hunkin in their final qualifying round match.
