In their opening game, Richard lost 7-3 to Scott DeCap (Kamloops, BC), then responded with a 8-4 win over Ken McArdle (New Westminster, BC). Richard won 10-6 against Jason Montgomery (Duncan, BC), then won 7-4 against DeCap. Richard went on to lose 7-3 against Brent Pierce (New Westminster, BC). Richard responded with a 5-4 win over McArdle. Richard went on to lose 12-6 against Montgomery in their final qualifying round match.
