Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) won 5-4 over Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) in the Final of the Players' Championship, held April 12 - 17, 2016 in Toronto, Ontario. To advance to the championship game, Gushue won 6-2 over David Murdoch (Stirling, SCO) in the semifinals of the 2016 Players' Championship in Toronto, Ontario; and won 7-3 over Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE) in the quarterfinals.

Gushue finished 5-0 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gushue defeated John Shuster (Duluth, USA) 5-3, then won 7-5 against John Epping (Toronto, ON) and 5-4 against Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB). Gushue won 5-2 against Murdoch, then won 5-4 against Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Players' Championship Championship title, Gushue earned 77.144 world rankings points along with the $27,500CDN first prize cheque, remaining in 2nd place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 25.246 after improving upon their best so far this season. Gushue ranks 2nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 527.644 points earned so far this season.
