In their opening game, Ford lost 7-3 to Dean Joanisse (New Westminster, BC), then responded with a 5-3 win over Bruce Korte (Saskatoon, SK). Ford went on to lose 5-4 against Colin Koivula (Thunder Bay, NONT). Ford lost 6-1 to Mick Lizmore (Edmonton, AB). Ford lost 6-4 to Doug MacKenzie (Windsor, NS) where Ford responded with a 6-5 win over Eddie MacKenzie (Charlottetown, PEI). Ford won 8-2 against Ed MacDonald (Iqaliut, NU). Ford went on to lose 8-4 against Mike McLean (Ottawa, ON). Ford lost 5-4 to Bob Sigurdson (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
