In their opening game, Dong lost 9-5 to Dorottya Palancsa (Budapest, HUN), then responded with a 10-6 win over Xindi Jiang (Harbin, CHN). Dong won 9-8 against Oona Kauste (Hyvinkaa, FIN). Dong went on to lose 8-5 against Michelle Englot (Regina, CAN). Dong responded with a 9-1 win over Xue Qi Yan (Yichun, CHN). Dong went on to lose 7-6 against Isabella Wrana (Stockholm, SWE) in their final qualifying round match.

Dong earned 1.969 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 12 spots the World Ranking Standings into 197th place overall with 4.633 total points. Dong ranks 181st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 2.508 points earned so far this season.
