To advance to the championship game, Sweeting won 6-5 over Jennifer Jones (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2017 GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 1 in Regina, Saskatchewan; and won 8-5 over Michelle Englot (Winnipeg, MB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2017 GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 1 in Regina, Saskatchewan;
 
Sweeting finished 4-0 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sweeting defeated Bingyu Wang (Harbin, CHN) 8-7, then won 6-4 against Rachel Homan (Ottawa, ON) and 5-4 against Jacqueline Harrison (Mississauga, ON). Sweeting won 4-3 against Eve Muirhead (Perth , SCO) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 1 Championship title, Sweeting earned 76.493 world rankings points along with the $20,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 5th place overall with 414.276 total points. Sweeting ranks 4th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 76.493 points earned so far this season.
