In their opening game, Casey defeated South Dakota's Cameron Rittenour 5-2, then won 6-5 against Colton Flasch (Saskatoon, SK) and 7-0 against Kroy Nernberger (Blaine, MN). Casey went on to lose 9-2 against McCormick. Casey responded with a 6-3 win over John Shuster (Duluth, USA) in their final qualifying round match.
