Naomasa Takeda (Sapporo, JPN) finished 5-3 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Takeda defeated Junpei Kanda (Tokyo, JPN) 6-5, then went on to lose 9-2 against Shinya Abe (Sapporo, JPN). Takeda responded with a 6-3 win over Atsushi Kamigochi (Hokkaido, JPN). Takeda won 8-7 against Kamigochi, then won 9-3 against Kazuhisa Unoura (Osaka, JPN) and 8-5 against Tatsuya Ogawa (Hokkaido, JPN). Takeda went on to lose 4-3 against Yoshiro Shimizu (Karuizawa, JPN). Takeda lost 8-2 to Masaki Iwai (Hokkaido, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.

Takeda earned 4.275 world rankings points for their Top 4 finish in the Japan Curling Championship, moving up 327 spots the World Ranking Standings into 387th place overall with 4.275 total points. Takeda ranks 295th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 4.275 points earned so far this season.
