To advance to the championship game, Carruthers won 9-7 over Rich Ruohonen (Chaska, USA) in the semifinals of the 2019 Ed Werenich Golden Wrench Classic presented by The Lodge Sasquatch Kitchen in Tempe, Arizona, United States; and won 7-5 over 's Jeremy Harty in the quarterfinals.
 
Carruthers finished 4-0 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Carruthers defeated 's Bob Leclair 9-1, then won 7-3 against Chris Bond (Seattle, WA) and 9-2 against Edward Scimia (Bridgeport, CT). Carruthers won 6-2 against Jim Cotter (Vernon, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Ed Werenich Golden Wrench Classic presented by The Lodge Sasquatch Kitchen Championship title, Carruthers earned 31.975 world rankings points along with the $8,541CDN first prize cheque.
