Hartung finished 5-1 in the 28 team Red Deer Curling Classic qualifying round, held November 16 - 19, 2018 in , . In their opening game, Hartung lost 8-3 to Bottcher, then responded with a 8-1 win over Ryan Deis (Fox Valley, SK). Hartung won 6-3 against Tyler Tardi (), then won 10-5 against Jamie Koe (Yellowknife, Y/NWT) and 5-4 against Daylan Vavrek (Calgary, AB). Hartung won 5-3 against James Pahl (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Red Deer Curling Classic Championship title, Hartung earned 40.763 world rankings points along with the $10,000CDN first prize cheque.
