Alina Kovaleva (Saint-Petersburg, RUS) won 6-3 over Ekaterina Galkina (Moscow, RUS) in the Final of the Russian Curling Cup, held December 21 - 25, 2018 in Krasnoyarsk, Russia. To advance to the championship game, Kovaleva won 10-4 over Olga Kotelnikova (Moscow, RUS) in the semifinals
 
Kovaleva finished 6-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kovaleva defeated Maria Baksheeva (Saint Petersburg, RUS) 6-5, then won 7-4 against Arina Rusina (Moscow, RUS) and 6-4 against Anna Venevtseva (Krasnoyarsk, RUS). Kovaleva won 8-1 against Ekaterina Tolstova (Dmitrov, RUS), then won 5-3 against Elizaveta Trukhina (Irkutsk, RUS). Kovaleva went on to lose 4-1 against Sofia Orazalina (Moscow, RUS). Kovaleva responded with a 8-2 win over Sofia Iarutina (Sverdlovsk, RUS) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Russian Curling Cup Championship title, Kovaleva earned 19.007 world rankings points along with the $8,000CDN first prize cheque. Kovaleva move up 3 spots after posting a net gain of 8.012 points improving upon their best 8 results so far this season, ranking 11th overall with 234.158 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Kovaleva ranks 7th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 218.129 points earned so far this season.
