In their opening game, Hutton defeated Kevin Keefe (Fredericton, NB) 8-5, then went on to lose 8-2 against Jeff Lacey (Saint John, NB). Hutton responded with a 8-6 win over Andrew Friel (Moncton, NB). Hutton went on to lose 7-6 against Jim Sullivan (Moncton, NB). Hutton lost 9-2 to Larry McCormack (Oromocto, NB) in their final qualifying round match.
