In their opening game, Hoffman defeated Jennifer Ying (Hockessin, DE) 10-3, then went on to lose 7-4 against Merlin Howick (Houston, TX). Hoffman responded with a 11-3 win over May Eaton (Oakland, CA). Hoffman went on to lose 11-5 against Monique Penney (West Chester, OH) in their final qualifying round match.
