Gushue finished 3-2 in the 24 team AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Classic qualifying round, held September 10 - 15, 2019 at the Cornwall Curling Club in Cornwall, Canada. In their opening game, Gushue lost 7-3 to Thomas Ulsrud (Oppdal, NOR), then responded with a 8-5 win over Denis Cordick (Georgetown, ON). Gushue won 8-6 against Glenn Howard (Penetanguishene, ON), then won 6-5 against Braden Calvert (Winnipeg, MB). Gushue went on to lose 6-5 against Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
