Yamaguchi finished 3-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Yamaguchi defeated Matt Dupuis (Ottawa, ON) 6-5, then won 6-2 against Cameron Goodkey (Ottawa, ON) and 6-3 against Martin Patry (Buckingham, QC) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Moosehead Fall Open Championship title, Yamaguchi earned 21.969 world rankings points along with the $2,400CDN first prize cheque.
