In their opening game, Cottenoir/Lanoue defeated Brenda Nicholls/Dan deWaard (Quebec, QC) 10-2, then won 9-2 against Dany Roy/Bruno Sonier (Sherbrooke, QC) and 13-1 against Lisianne Ouellet/Guillaume Rousseau (Riviere-du-Loup, QC) in their final qualifying round match.
