Hui Yan/Cheng Kuo (Beijing, CHN) finished 3-3 in the 25-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Yan/Kuo defeated Delee Miller/Brett Miller (Saskatoon, SK) 11-3, then went on to lose 7-5 against Tahli Gill/Dean Hewitt (Brisbane, AUS). Yan/Kuo responded with a 7-2 win over Emma Wiens/James Hom (Weyburn, SK). Yan/Kuo went on to lose 8-4 against Ying Yang/Zhi Ling (Beijing, CHN). Yan/Kuo responded with a 7-6 win over Christa Perepelitza/Rodney Ouellette (Cold Lake , AB). Yan/Kuo went on to lose 6-5 against Kayla Skrlik/Gregg Hamilton (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.

Yan/Kuo earned 4.045 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, remaining in 668th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 4.044 after improving upon their best so far this season. Yan/Kuo ranks 31st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 61.644 points earned so far this season.
