Junpei Kanda (Tokyo, JPN) finished 3-5 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kanda lost 6-3 to Yuya Takigahira (Nayoro, JPN), droppimg another game, 8-3 to Yuta Matsumura (Kitami, JPN). Kanda lost 9-6 to Ryutaro Tani (Hokkaido, JPN) where Kanda responded with a 6-1 win over Hiroki Yoshioka (Okayama, JPN). Kanda went on to lose 9-2 against Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi (Karuizawa, JPN). Kanda responded with a 11-8 win over Kotaro Noguchi (Miyagi, JPN). Kanda won 8-7 against Kantaro Kawano (Sapporo, JPN). Kanda went on to lose 10-1 against Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.

Kanda earned 4.587 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 30 of the event schedule, Kanda did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Kanda ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
