Sae Yamamoto (Japan) won 7-4 over Moa Dryburgh (Sundbyberg, SWE) in the Final To advance to the championship game, Yamamoto won 7-3 over Delaney Strouse (Minneapolis, USA) in the semifinals of the 2022 World Junior Curling Championships in Jonkoping, Sweden;
Yamamoto finished 6-3 in the 10 team World Junior Curling Championships qualifying round, held May 15 - 22, 2022 in , . In their opening game, Yamamoto defeated Bobae Kang (Korea) 9-6, then went on to lose 10-3 against Evelina Barone (Riga, LAT). Yamamoto lost 9-8 to Strouse where Yamamoto responded with a 7-4 win over Fay Henderson (Stirling, SCO). Yamamoto won 6-4 against Karolina Jensen (Hvidovre, DEN), then won 8-1 against Dryburgh and 10-5 against Eirin Mesloe (Norway). Yamamoto went on to lose 6-5 against Xenia Schwaller (Biel, SUI). Yamamoto responded with a 6-5 win over Isabelle Ladouceur (Sudbury, CAN) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the World Junior Curling Championships Championship title, Yamamoto earned 33.345 world rankings points. For week 43 of the event schedule, Yamamoto did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Yamamoto ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
