Ethan Sampson (Fargo, ND) won 6-5 over Mark Willmert (St. Paul, MN) in the Final of the The Big Spiel, held January 13 - 16, 2022 in Twin Cities, Minnesota. To advance to the championship game, Sampson won 9-0 over Kenneth Starkey (Chaska, MN) in the semifinals

Sampson finished 5-0 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sampson defeated Daniel Townsend (St. Paul, MN) 1-0, then won 1-0 against Mike Mueller (St. Paul, MN) and 1-0 against Steve Rooney (St. Paul, MN). Sampson won 1-0 against Mike Farbelow (St. Paul, MN), then won 1-0 against Connor Kauffman (Four Seasons, MN) in their final qualifying round match.

Sampson ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
