McEwen finished 6-1 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McEwen defeated Jason Camm (Ottawa, ON) 10-4, then won 7-6 against Epping and 8-1 against Aaron Squires (St Thomas, ON). McEwen won 7-4 against Alex Champ (Kitchener-Waterloo, ON), then won 5-4 against Sam Mooibroek (Whitby, ON). McEwen went on to lose 5-2 against Howard. McEwen responded with a 8-2 win over Michael Fournier (Toronto, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Ontario Tankard Championship title, McEwen earned 30.000 world rankings points. McEwen move up 8 spots after posting a net gain of 24.75 points improving upon their best 6 results so far this season, ranking 19th overall with 146.471 total points on the World Ranking Standings. McEwen ranks 23rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 106.625 points earned so far this season.
