Martel finished 4-0 in the 25-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Martel defeated Bernard Larouche (Val-d'Or, QC) 5-2, then won 5-3 against Jean-Yves Lemay (Amos, QC) and 9-1 against Caroline Hains (Val-d'Or, QC). Martel won 7-2 against Patrick Bedard (Rouyn-Noranda, QC) in their final qualifying round match.
