Sam Mooibroek (Whitby, ON) won 7-4 over Scott Howard (Navan, ON) in the Final of the Ontario Mens Curling Championship, held January 19 - 26 in Cobourg, Ontario.
Mooibroek finished 3-0 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Mooibroek defeated Kibo Mulima (Waterloo, ON) 8-4, then won 10-6 against Jonathan Beuk (Kingston, ON) to advance to the A-Qualifier where they 8-6 against Mark Kean (Woodstock, ON) to advance to the playoff round. in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Ontario Mens Curling Championship Championship title, Mooibroek earned 18.750 world rankings points. Mooibroek move up 2 spots after posting a net gain of 8.25 points improving upon their best 7 results so far this season, ranking 21st overall with 150.469 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Mooibroek ranks 22nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 120.250 points earned so far this season.
