![]() Victoria Moiseeva (St. Petersburg, Russia) wins the Driving Force Abbotsford Cashspiel, defeating Dailene Pewarchuk (Victoria, BC) 8-0 at the Abbotsford Curling Club in Abbotsford, Canada. Moiseeva with Uliana Vasilyeva at third, Galina Arsenkina and Julia Guzieva on the front end take home the $6,000CDN first place cheque along with 26.010 world ranking points, while Pewarchuk receives $3,500CDN and 20.436 world ranking points for their second place finish. Starting with hammer, Moiseeva scored 1 in the first end, then added a steal of 2 in the second end. After a blank end, Moiseeva stole 3 in the fourth end, and stole 2 more in the fifth end for handshakes and the early 8-0 win. In the semifinals, Moiseeva defeated Corryn Brown (Kamloops, BC) 7-6 and Pewarchuk defeated Satsuki Fujisawa (Kitami, Japan) 4-3. Brown and Fujisawa earned $2,000CDN and 15.792 ranking points for their semifinal finishes. In the quarterfinals, Moiseeva defeated Karla Thompson (Kamloops, BC) 7-5, Pewarchuk defeated Shiela Cowan (Surrey, BC) 8-3, while Fujisawa defeated Sarah Daniels (Delta, BC) 7-6 in an extra end and Brown defeated Kesa Van Osch (Nanaimo, BC) 8-3. Daniels, Thompson, Van Osch and Cowan earned $1,000CDN along with 11.147 ranking points for their quarterfinal finishes. Moiseeva went 3-0 in the 16 team round robin pools qualifying round. In their opening game, Moiseeva defeated Kayte Gyles (New Westminster, BC) 7-1, won against Holly Donaldson (Victoria, BC) 5-2, and Patti Knezevic (Lake Country, BC) 7-2 in their final qualifying round match. |
