Homan, Einarson, Lawes all sit 2-0 at Trials
![]() Rachel Homan's dominant squad (photo: Curling Canada) earned their second victory of the 2025 Montana's Curling Trials, defeating Christina Black 8-2. By Meredith McCullum 2 games into the Trials and 3 teams still sit undefeated on the women's side. The top team at the end of the seven game round robin will earn a bye to the best-of-three final and the second and third teams will faceoff in a semifinal on Nov. 27 at 1 p.m. AST. In Draw 2 action, Homan backed up her dominant 16-5 win over Kate Cameron with another strong performance against Christina Black, winning 8-2 in eight ends. Gimli, Manitoba's Kerri Einarson got off to a 5-0 lead over Kate Cameron's through four ends, but Cameron wouldn't go down quietly. After the teams traded singles in the fifth and sixth ends to make the score 6-1, Cameron earned a single in the seventh and then stole in each of ends eight through ten. It wasn't quite enough to come back, and Einarson picked up her second victory with a final score of 6-5. Winnipeg, Manitoba's Kaitlyn Lawes also got off to a hot start against Selena Sturmay, leading 5-1 after three ends. Sturmay fought back with steals in the fifth and eighth, making the score 6-6 after eight ends. The teams traded singles in nine and ten, forcing an extra end. On her last shot in the extra end, Lawes made an in-off double in the four foot to sit top button next to Sturmay's rock back button. A measurement would indicate that Lawes' red rock was closer, handing her the 8-7 win. The other sheet featured Corryn Brown taking on Kayla Skrlik in a tight back-and-forth battle that saw Brown squeak out a 7-6 victory. The women play again Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. AST. Homan will face Skrlik, Einarson will face Brown, Black is matched up against Lawes and Sturmay faces Cameron. TSN will broadcast the games with scores and standings available at curlingzone.com.
