Skaslien/Nedregotten notch first win in Cortina
![]() Norway's Kristin Skaslien and Magnus Nedregotten are into the win column after a tough start to the Milano-Cortina Games. By Cameron Sallaj Married couple Kristin Skaslien and Magnus Nedregotten of Norway had a difficult start to the 2026 Games Cortina. The 2022 Olympic silver and 2018 Olympic bronze medalists faced three of the heavy favorites in the first three draws of the event: Great Britain, the United States and Canada. All three games resulted in losses for the experienced duo, putting them in a compromising must-win situation early into the event. On the brink of elimination, the team faced Sweden's sibling duo Isabella and Rasmus Wrana in Friday night's Draw 6. After losing the last stone draw prior to the game, the Norwegian side came out firing, never allowing the Swedes to put a point on the board. After swiping singles in ends one and two, the pair stole three in the third end to open up a commanding 5-0 lead. Momentum continued going Norway's way in the second half of the game as Skaslien and Nedregotten added one to their total in the fourth, two more in the fifth and another point in the sixth to end the game early, 9-0 the final score. Kristin Skaslien and Magnus Nedregotten are one of the most experienced doubles teams in the field at the 2026 Olympic Games, currently sitting third in the world rankings and holding a plethora of international medals. However, they have never won gold at an international competition, a stat the pair is hoping to change this week in Cortina. Now with their first win, it is still a long road to the playoffs for the Norwegians. They will next take on Estonia's Marie Kaldvee and Harri Lill on Friday as well as Italy's Stefania Constantini and Amos Mosaner. They will then play Czechia and Switzerland on Sunday before wrapping up the round robin against South Korea on Monday. Olympic Mixed Doubles Standings - Draw 6 Great Britain (Dodds/Mouat): 5-0 The United States (Thiesse/Dropkin): 4-0 Canada (Peterman/Gallant): 3-1 Italy (Constantini/Mosaner): 3-1 Switzerland (Schwaller-Hurlimann/Schwaller): 2-2 Sweden (Wrana/Wrana): 2-3 Estonia (Kaldvee/Lill): 1-3 Norway (Skaslien/Nedregotten): 1-3 Czechia (Zelingrova/Chabicovsky): 0-4 South Korea (Kim/Jeong): 0-4 |
