Sturmay opened the scoring stealing 1 in the first end. After a blank end, Usselman scored a single the third end, then forced Sturmay to a single in the fourth end. Sturmay added a steal in the fifth end, then forced Usselman to a single in the sixth end to lead 3-2. After a blank end, Sturmay scored a single the eighth end for clinch the 4-2 win.

In the semifinals, Sturmay defeated Danny Sherrard (Edmonton, Alberta) 7-4 and Usselman defeated SooHyuk Kim (Seoul, Korea) 6-3. Sherrard and Kim earned $1,400CDN and 13.545 ranking points for their semifinal finishes. Sturmay went 4-0 in the 25 team round robin pools qualifying round. In their opening game, Sturmay defeated Kevin Tym (Edmonton, Alberta) 6-2, then won against Shane Park 8-1, against Scott Webb (Peace River, Alberta) 7-5, and 7-5 against Ryan Jacques (Edmonton, Alberta) 7-5 in their final qualifying round match.
