Sluchinski with Dean Mamer at third, Kerr Drummond and Dylan Webster on the front end take home the $3,300CDN first place cheque along with 21.074 world ranking points, while Zou receives $2,300CDN and 16.558 world ranking points for their second place finish. Starting with hammer, Sluchinski scored 1 in the first end. After blanking 2 ends, Zou scored 2 in the fourth end to lead to 2-1, then Sluchinski responded in the fifth end scoring 3. Zou scored 2 in the sixth end to tie the game at 4 with Sluchinski responding in the seventh end scoring 2 and holding on for the 6-4 win. In the semifinals, Sluchinski defeated Karsten Sturmay (Edmonton, AB) 5-1 and Zou defeated Rui Liu (Harbin, China) 6-5 in an extra end. Sturmay and Liu earned $1,300CDN and 12.795 ranking points for their semifinal finishes. In the quarterfinals, Sluchinski defeated Mike Hutchings (Morinville, AB) 10-5, Zou defeated Tracy Steinke (Dawson Creek, BC) 5-1, while Sturmay defeated Scott Garnett (Calgary, AB) 7-4 and Liu defeated Ted Appelman (Edmonton, AB) 5-3. Hutchings, Steinke, Garnett and Appelman earned $850CDN along with 9.032 ranking points for their quarterfinal finishes. Sluchinski went 3-0 in the 24 team round robin pools qualifying round. In their opening game, Sluchinski defeated Matt Yeo (Beaumont, AB) 7-6, then won against Danny Sherrard (Edmonton, AB) 3-1, and Daylan Vavrek (Edmonton, AB) 5-1 in their final qualifying round match. |
