EunJung Kim wins Paf Masters in Finland
|  EunJung Kim (Uiseong, Korea) wins the Paf Masters, defeating Shannon Kleibrink (Calgary, Canada) 7-5. Kim with KyeongAe Kim at third, SeonYeong Kim and YeongMi Kim on the front end take home the $12,521CDN first place cheque along with 29.094 world ranking points, while Kleibrink receives $6,629CDN and 22.860 world ranking points for their second place finish. Starting with hammer, Kim blanked the first end, got on the board scoring 2 in the second end. Kleibrink responded in the third end scoring 3 with Kim scoring 2 more in the fourth end to take a 4-3 lead, after fKleibrink settled for a single in the fifth end. Kim scored 2 in the sixth end, forced Kleibrink to a single in the seventh end and then scored a single point in the 8th end for the 7-5 win. In the Third Place game, Therese Westman (Stocksund, Sweden) won 6-3 over Ayumi Ogasawara (Sapporo, Japan). Westman won $4,419CDN, while Ogasawara took home $2,946CDN along 17.664 ranking points each. In the semifinals, Kim defeated Ogasawara scoring a single in the 8th end to win 5-4 and Kleibrink dropped Westman 5-3. In the quarterfinals, Kim defeated Diana Gaspari (Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy) 9-2, Kleibrink defeated Oona Kauste (Hyvinkaa, Finland) 7-3, Ogasawara won 4-2 over Chiaki Matsumura (Karuizawa, Japan) and Westman prevailed 6-2 over Satsuki Fujisawa (Kitami, Japan). Gaspari, Kauste, Matsumura and Fujisawa earned 6.235 ranking points for their quarterfinal finishes. Kim went 3-0 in the 12 team round-robin pools qualifying round. In their opening game, Kim defeated Cynthia Gertsch (Dubendorf, Switzerland) 14-1, won against Ursi Hegner (Uzwil, Switzerland) 5-2, and Westman 5-4 in their final qualifying round match. |
